Industrial charm meets generosity

This 280 m² wonder of space on the fourth floor of a former industrial building combines spaciousness with history - and a touch of urban nonchalance. The entrance? The situation
Berlin-Mitte - Berlin's pulsating heart
Welcome to a neighbourhood where you rarely stay alone for long. Between small shops, lots of coffee and even more creativity, real Berlin life is bustling here: on foot, on two wheels or simply lost in thought. The streets are lively, but never loud. The neighbours are individual, but never intrusive. And if you're wondering where all the bikes come from - here's the answer: from the backyards, studios, agencies and old flats all around.
Good to know: Your bike doesn't have to freeze outside. The building has its own bicycle garage - safe, dry and easily accessible. Even better, you can take your bike directly into your flat - using the old goods lift. Just right for an environment where the car is often superfluous. Because almost everything is right on your doorstep: organic supermarket, bakery, market, playground or theatre - all just a few minutes away.
And if you want to go further afield: The M1 stops practically in front of the building and the Eberswalder Straße underground station is also just a short walk away. If you live here, you don't need a timetable - just a little curiosity and a desire to see what's just around the corner.
The story
A place with a past - and a future
The street was first laid out in 1826 as an access road as part of the development of Prenzlauer Berg and was systematically built up with Wilhelminian-style buildings from the middle of the 19th century - many of which still characterise the streetscape today. Berlin's oldest beer garden, the "Prater", opened just a stone's throw from today's Loft back in 1837. Even back then, the place was a popular meeting place for the growing city population - lively, sociable, undisguised.
At the end of the 19th century, numerous tenements, workshops and factory buildings were built along the street - including the former commercial building that now houses the loft. What once served as a place for production and craftsmanship was later rethought and further developed - and today forms a fascinating setting for contemporary living with an industrial soul.
During the Second World War, the neighbourhood suffered some serious damage. In the decades that followed, much of the neighbourhood remained dormant - until a new phase began in the early 1990s: The neighbourhood became a centre of attraction for creatives, pioneers and cultural workers. Squats, galleries, projects such as the Lichtblick cinema and numerous studios turned the area into a place of new beginnings.
And in the centre of it all: a loft that breathes this history - and continues to write it.
